Adinkras

There is Power in symbols and the Asante (or Ashanti) people of Ghana, West Africa developed the 43 Adinkra symbols as visual representation of proverbs and maxims.  The Asante people resisted British colonial rule when it arrived in West Africa which is major reason why the Adinkra symbolism remains today.  These powerful symbols encapsulate messages that convey traditional wisdom and this collection honors the Adinkra tradition.
